I can confirm that one of the chips on the 24-85 circuit is marked 'Sigma', although we are at risk of over-generalizing if we make a blanket statement that the electronics is made by Sigma. I am not able to elaborate on what function that chip serves (unless you sign me an NDA, then I could let you know), and not all 9 lenses in the Contax N line-up contain that chip.
The electronic circuitry of the 28-80 and 70-200 does share similarities with Sigma's own lenses, but the other 7 lenses in the Contax N lineup are quite significantly different - they (24-85, 17-35, 70-300, 50, 85, 100, 400) employ the more-costly rigid-flex circuit technology but Sigma's own lenses as well as the Contax N 28-80 and 70-200 employ the more familiar, less expensive FR-4 circuit board.
I recall when I diassembled a Canon 300D, the color LCD screen was labelled 'Sony'. But we could not overgeneralize and conclude the electronics were made by Sony.
i am little surprised about that camera vs lens combination.
In terms of quality (by age for the 350D) and secondhand prize
there is a little gape. ;-)
But on the other hand it shows nicely that an old cam is still
good for great pix.
