I spent 11 years in marketing with Caterpillar. Can't tell you the number of earthmoving machines the railroad lost in shipping. Most of them showed up eventually, but come on, how do you lose a D10?!

Thanks for reminding me of another problem I had with UPS. I ordered a lens from Adorama some time ago and it was supposed to be shipped back to my P.O. box. Adorama screwed up and sent it UPS instead of USPS. I tracked the package and contacted UPS when it was in town. UPS decided to send it back to Adorama despite my speaking to a "customer service" person the same day and telling them to hold it at their facility. They shipped it back within two hours or so not giving me enough time to get to their office.

That happened to me with some checks I bought. The address on my checks is my PO Box. I assumed the company would ship them USPS but they shipped them UPS! I wondered what would happen figured they would get sent back. What happened was UPS delivered them to the post office.They (the post office) put anote in my box and I picked them up at the window. You just never know.

This is what I find so frustrating about UPS. I too ordered a hat recently. The online store did not give me a choice whether I wanted UPS or USPS, so I assumed that they would have some safeguard or alert that would inform them that the item was going to a P.O. box instead of a physical address. When I got the shipping confirmation I realized that they sent it to my P.O. box via UPS instead of USPS!

I immediately called them, but they advised me that UPS would deliver to my P.O. box. I argued to the contrary and was told that if they got it back from UPS they would re-ship via USPS. To my surprise I actually received the hat at my P.O. box! The irritating thing is that why couldn't the same have happened when Adorama sent me a lens a few years ago?

p.s. I still won't take any chances. If I can't have it shipped to my P.O. box via USPS I simply won't buy the item.

I work for a company in Maryland guess where the majority of our inventroy is? In a Louisville Ky UPS warehouse. A lot of companies are going that route keeping their inventroy in a centrally locate UPS warehouse. Seems odd I know but that is a cost effective method for them. Newegg probably is one of them.

I can't complain about UPS myself. I had two packages scheduled for delivery December 21st, one via UPS,and the other via FedEx. Though cold that day where I live, the sky was clear and the roads, very passable. The UPS driver showed up at 10:10 AM with the one package; while about the same time, FedEx reported an exception due to weather delays and claimed they attempted to delivery the package. I have a clear view via my office window of the road coming up to my place and know without a doubt that FedEx never made such an attempt.
