p.9 #1 · Your Best Nightscapes and how they were made

From the Perseid meteor shower. I was in Yosemite National Park at the time. I wish I was able to get some with El Capitan and Half Dome but it was a family trip.

25 minute exposure. I was using my Canon 17-40 f/4L, at f/4, on my 5D at ISO 400. I did have to apply a standard helping of Noiseware and painstakingly removed a jet trail across the top 3rd of the image.

Great picture! Is that Yosemite or Havasu?

That's a beautiful picture from Yosemite, and perfectly centered on Polaris. Well done.

Hey night shooters, don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but according to Fox News, tonight will be the "biggest and brightest full moon of 2010."

Hope to see some shots from you all in a day or two!

I've only looked through the first page and I'm already astonished at some of the work posted...

Here's my favorite night image:

The Arc de Triomphe, Paris

Canon 40D
EF-S 10-22 @ 17mm
6" @ F/11, iso 100

Full exif intact. Now, back to page two for me

I assume he tilted the camera.

It just looks like an impossible shot without a helicopter.

At a 5 second exposure, that would have to be one steady copter. I'm curious too.

On the north side of the bridge you can go up the hill. Take a telephoto lens, tilt it, and wait for "good" weather.

I'm well aware of the hill, and I dont give a crap about tilting the lens. I'm curious as to where he was standing to get that angle of view of the bridge...
Not sure why there is hostility towards a simple question

Am I hostile? I had no clue where on the road exactly he was. One could walk that one mile if one so desperately wanted to. It was perfectly possible that you aren't from the area (since you didn't indicate that) and didn't know about the road. Sorry for helping. Be more specific next time.

I have a PM into Fred Miranda and I sent one to Jim about a week ago no response yet, it would not hurt for everyone else to send over their thoughts also.

Thanks to everyone who has made this my favorite thread of all time the photos have been amazing please keep them coming.

Thanks again

Shane
