This is also my contribution to the "Reflections" thread. Not really sure if it's my best from this year, but it is definitely one of my favorites from one of my favorite locations.

Like a beautiful watercolor by Winslow Homer! Just a wonderful image.
Many thanks That was actually the day with the crappiest weather of the entire trip but I ended up getting my favorite picture. Azores Islands are an amazing place in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. 9 islands, some of them tiny and still all so different from each other.
tgrando: Intrinsically interesting image, and timeless. It reflects the human presence as it might've looked a 1000 years ago. The fine tonality of the b&w enhances this sense of another era. I bet the image looks even more satisfying in a print.
If so inclined, please reveal what software you use for b&w conversion.

Thanks, glad you liked this one. The print does look fantastic, I've got one hanging in my home. It is one of my favorite images I've taken.
As for the conversion, it was done in Photoshop CS4. I want to try out the Silver Efex from Nik, but just haven't had the chance yet.
Let me say I use Silver Efex Pro for my b&w conversions. This plug-in has many adjustments for achieving the best b&w conversion. It can emulate about a dozen films, various traditional film development processes, and film toning, among many other adjustments, using sliders. I need to spend more time with this plug-in, to learn its ins-and-outs.
Typically, however, I used the filters in CS4 to give a final toning to an image, by adjusting the layer opacity to taste.
I think he meant it as one. I see what he means too. It's like those prehistoric background matt paintings they use for dinosaur-scapes. Awesome stuff!
Dentxr: Took me awhile to get back here. Busy developing my road trip images. I did offer my comment in a positive sense. Maybe expressed it poorly. I gave an impressionistic view. Bifurcator has it right, though -- your image conjures a prehistoric time.
