Here's my favorite of the year. This one was a matter of great luck which I could take advantage of by planning the 800 mile trip to put me in the in the right place at the right time with the right equipment and ready. That afternoon the storm clouds rolled in and blocked the sun. Then about 30 minutes before sunset the sunlight started creeping across from the far right side, apparently as the sun came beneath the cloud layer but still above the horizon. I call it "Anasazi Sunset".
Very nice Doug. I liked that spot as much as the more famous spot down lower at the pullout. The Saturday I was there we didn't get the clouds. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite time of the year on FM. This has to be one of the best sets of photos on the web. Here is my post, it is a cruise ship up in Tracy Arm in Southeast Alaska. It is dwarfed by the 5 to 7000 foot mountains. I love taking the family in there in our boat. Happy Holidays everybody. Ron
I'm going to reserve my "best of '09" post for now, as I haven't shot much this year and who knows, with a couple weeks of the year left, maybe I haven't taken it yet?
I can say though, that this thread is very humbling, yet educational as well.
It may not be my best shot of 2009. Its not 100% technically perfect. But its my favorite simply because it is so mind bending. The tree on the cliff is a solid 40-60 ft fir tree. The little shrubs are 6 ft or taller wax currants. Welcome to the land of giant boulders.
Wow there are some really outstanding images in this thread, great work everyone! Here's one of my favorites from 09, sunrise along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC.
