Beautiful set of images. I particularly like the third one, though slightly less sharpening would probably be better for web display. In any event, thanks for sharing the season.
Lovely set here. I agree with Hugh in that the 3rd can stand to have a tad less sharpening but by far it
is my favourite of the lot. I tend to tone done the amount of USM applied to these type of heavy vegetation shots as they do not need as much sharpening.
Here's kind of a funky mod. I dunno if it really expresses the mental image I was going for but whatever...
Oh, and there's no sharpening in this one other than the 12%, radius 1.0 applied via ACR when I brought it in - it still looks noisy to me though <shrug>.
I love the fourth. Those red leaves are gorgeous. I also like the composition of your third/fifth but I don't like your processing on either version. It is just too harsh for my taste.
Yeah, My previous similar set turned out harsh like this too. I think I'm trying to compensate for a sensor with such low dynamics. I have some more from this shoot that I'm going to try and avoid this with. Wish me luck.
Looks great! I like the compositions. I suppose this is what really separates men with cameras from boys with toys...
Is it from your walkabout with Mung?
the processing im guessing is either HDR or Exposure Blending
and this I fear is leaving the corners with a horrible degree of
ca or fringing [red/blue] outline, it really detracts from the image.
Yup. Looks Like I was editing my message when you posted this.
And yes the CA is really pronounced at 5 times over sampled (compound error). But I thought one would have to zoom up on it to really have it be much of a bother. You notice it right off huh? Bummer.
So from all the crits on number 3 I decided to turn off everything and just do a straight blend (tone mapping) without using any of the bell and whistle features or trying to "fix" or "enhance" anything at all in PS or ACR. So this is just the straight blend. It looks very much like what my eyes actually saw that day as well.
Much better IMHO. The earlier images definetly felt overprocessed to me, but that may just be my taste. Lovely composition. I might be tempted to crop a bit of the sky off the top and perhaps desaturate the red channel a bit, but I think your last version is the way to go. - Paul

+1
the CA is still visible to me but obviously not as much,
if you corrected it in PS it would sharpen up everything too!
Your last photo above, with the new processing, is definitely the best. The processing on the other photos really bothers me. There are problems with halos, CA, and imperfect alignment (possibly the leaves were moving between exposures). Still there are some halo problems, but it is a very nice shot anyway. Where is this located?
