p.1 #1 · Lighting Case at Walmart

Was discussing lighting cases in another thread and thought I'd start a new one on this.

Picked up a 'Contico' brand rolling case in the automotive dept. at Walmart for around $20.00. Added some dividers made from 1x10's and came up with a lighting case for 3 AB's and a compartment for umbrellas/cords/short stands, on the cheap.........

Yup, that's my gig. I've got studio for doing cars, in particular, vettes. There's probably 10 or 12 AB1600's lighting that shot.

how well does the sides support weight. looks like the plastic will buckle if any weight is pressed on. are the locks secure enough if the case rolled over with the weight inside?

yup, it's solid.........When the top is down and latched it really stiffens the entire thing up well. I was sitting on it the other day while shooting some kids and it was plenty sturdy. I'd not be worried about standing on it short term at all.
I think it would stay latched no problem in a rollover. I turn it sideways and carry it via the side handle all the time. There's also a padlock hole you could probably hook a dog leash snap or carabiner to, if you wanted that extra bit of security.
