Andreas, indeed - really awesome matte color. Well captured.
ewadler, great shots of your son!
Empire, really impressive b&w shots. I like the vintage feel of the first one and the second one is excellent in terms of composition, drawing style and overall feel.
For some reason Charles every time I look, the 35/1.4 is mounted on my camera. I also think I'm getting some accusatory glances from my 35/2.
No but seriously, this is probably the best all-round prime I've got.
-35mm, the classic street FL, suitable for most things.
-f/1.4 means low light capabilities
-short MFD makes it good for closeups
and the rendering style is fantastic. So when I just bring along one lens, it becomes the natural choice.
Lately I haven't really had the time to go out and shoot properly so for the most part I just grab a shot now and then when I happen to have the camera with me. For instance, I took the shots above when I decided to walk home from the office yesterday. And when I have no idea what I'll be shooting, or under which light conditions, well, then you can't do much better than the 35/1.4.
I tried to get it, but the seller wouldn't ship outside the US. I wrote to the seller, who didn't bother answering. It went for less than 900$, which is less than I was willing to pay, which serves the seller right...
The pictures of the older version on ebay seem to show a rear element with less MC colorings than the front. If anything, my newer version has more in the back than the front. Is this really the case for the older Rollei (and possibly Contax) versions?
