The one that sold for $1500 was collector quality. I still see them on ebay for $1200 all the time. Still, both those prices are well above what I would be willing to pay. Your price is more reasonable if the glass is mint. Sounds like someone will be getting a deal. Why are you selling BTW? I don't think I will ever sell mine unless Canon comes with a big-chief 35Lii. And maybe not even then.

EDIT:
Looking at your pictures, someone will be getting a cherry copy of the C/Y from you. Good luck with selling it, I am sure it will sell quickly.

$1500? That is criminal. They can be had for much less.
I would easily pay 1200 for a great copy. It is such a special lens. I love both of mine :-) I have paid more that 1200 usd for the Canon 35L in the past and the distagon is a better lens. Period.
950 USD for an excellent copy is maybe not exaggerated but I have seen a very good one for 550 in a camera shop - that was a steal and I could kick myself that I did not buy it!
IMO 1200 is way too much.
I paid 460 USD for one with a slight rear coating defect, which I cannot see on pictures. Some may not agree because it is not Ex+ but for me that was a good deal.
Does anyone know which year the Contax version has first been released?
I also believe it to be a better lens. Sharper wide open, and more flare resistant. I swear it doesn't even need a hood! At any rate, I got a deal on mine that is unlikely to happen again in a lifetime, so I am content to keep the one I have. I would like to check out the Rollei version as well, as you seem to have less issues with the mirror.

Thanks, Jason. It is a great lens. I can't argue with that. Looking through the photos you all shot with your copies... the relationship you've developed with the lens is obvious. Your joy in shooting with it is obvious. It gives you the results you're after and probably even surprises you sometimes in the best way. I tried, but it didn't take for me. So off it goes to someone who will appreciate it.
Thanks Brad. I have loved the 35 mm FL for a long time. I had the 35L on my 5D and also the Nikkor 35/1.4 AIS. I now have the 35/2 from canon, the two distagons and also the C/Y 35-70/3.4 and Zuiko 35-70/3.6. Having two distagons might be overkill but a spare is good to have in case something happens :-)
I also love 35mm, which is why I was willing to gamble as much as I did on this lens without having used it, and was disappointed when I found myself underwhelmed. But I'm (unnaturally, I suppose) devoted to my 35 Summicron. Sometimes I think I can hear it whispering in my ear, "You don't need any other lens. You should sell the rest of them and only use me." Of course, for better or worse, I don't listen.
Have you tried the Canon FD 35/2.8 T/S? If you haven't and ever get a chance to snag a converted copy, give it a whirl. Very good lens, and a lot of fun.
Andreas and other C/Y or Rollei 35/1.4 owners posting here, I am blaming you all for my breakdown and buying Brad's copy in the B&S forum. I had been waiting for the rumored new ZE version to be announced but it is already half way into the year and no announcement. Life is short. My resistance was futile ...
Thanks Brad, and I can't wait to get to try it out soon!

Wayne! Life is short! You will love the lens. And even if there will be a ZE in the future I doubt it will be sub 1000 US...
It sure is addictive! 35 mm combined with close focus and f/1.4 works in almost any situation. If I could only have one lens on FF forever it would be a Zeiss 35/1.4.
