Anden, did you get a good bargain on the C/Y version? What do you think of the build quality between the 2? They certainly seem to be going to the moon lately as far as prices go. I saw one sell for like $1500 the other day. Thats just bonkers... makes me feel kinda sleazy for the price I paid for mine. Maybe I should have informed the seller that she was asking far to little money for this lens. I am sure I will never get a deal like that again...
Jason. I did not get a bargain.
The build is more or less the same. The feel in the contax aperture ring is better :-)
I hope it will work fine on my cranky 5DII.
You should not have reversed buyers remorse. The seller got what she asked.
Here is my C/Y. I am very happy with the build. I wish my 5D was less cranky as well . At any rate, this lens has been glued to my 5D since I got it. I think this is the only time it has been off since it came home with me.
I was delighted to get the papers with the lens. I also got the Contax bag, but I was not as fortunate enough to get the Metal Hood 2. I am looking for one, and the step-up ring currently.

Nice to get the paperwork too. I did not. But I got the Hood 2 and step ring!
Does your lens hang the mirror? Have you removed the curved shroud?
I got to test the C/Y. It hanged my 5DII on some shots but not others. It works fine on the 1DSII.
I removed the two screws holding the curved shroud. The shroud does not come of. Does anyone know if it is glued to the lens? On my 35-70/3.4 I only had to take out the two screws and then it came of.
I often think about getting a 5d mkII just to get more MF-possibilities, but with leica, some zeiss, the zf-line, om and other glass working for nikon, I should manage to get a decent lineup with my d700 too, but especially the 35mm-range is tough to get right in a nikon mount these days!
I was informed that the shroud shall not be removed.
Some users with cranky 5DII have had better luck with the Happypagehk Pro V5 adapter. I can not find it on his ebay page. Is it no longer in production?
I have two options.
1. File the shroud about 0.3-0.5 mm.
2. Get a thicker adapter.
I have the fotodiox pro adapter and it hangs "only" sometimes. And at full infinity. I am going to order the Cameraquest/Kindai adapter so I will keep you informed if it works for me.

$1500? That is criminal. They can be had for much less.
