I have almost this same shot...except vertical...and with people between the posts. Beautiful spot.
yeah, i have many shots from there over the years. it was super windy that day, which kept people out of the shot (my grandmother-in-law almost got blown over).

Are these shot with the CY 35 1.4?
I am on the fence, should I get the FE or the CY 35 1.4...
yes, all with the c/y.
tough call, the c/y is shorter but heavier. i don't think it balances terribly well on the a7 (might be better if i had a heavier adapter so the weight isn't all at the end). i don't think anything draws quite like the contax/rollei, even the ZF. i've been impressed by the look of the FE though, not a fan of AF + focus by wire though so i'll never get that.
i think the c/y is the best portrait lens ever, but i'm actually trying to get rid of big lenses though. i've filled out the form to put it on ebay like 6 times in the last year, but never hit the post button (it's one of my open tabs as i speak). i feel like i should be able to get by with just an rx1, 35 lux, and g35...
pretty photos, as always. I especially liked the yellow flower shot with the contrax 85 f2 recently over on the FE thread.
The fly by the wire is horrible (or I thought it was on my rx1). I loved the Sonnar on the rx1, but I want to try something new. I am interested in the ZF's IQ, but it's another 200g on top of the FE/CY, so that's out for me.
I don't expect either to be well balanced on the a7 series, ha.
Why do you think the CY 35 1.4 is the best portrait lens? And I see why you're having a hard time selling it then
And I should ad, I find the MFD on the FE pretty attractive...

thanks.
what is the MFD on the FE? the c/y seems close enough at .3m.
i think it's the best portrait lens because i think it's the best 35mm for portraits and being more of a fan of environmental portraits, i think 35mm is the best focal length for portraits. what makes it great it the combination of zeiss pop and color with the perfect amount of glow and gentle focus fall off. the subject pops while the SA makes the skin look radiant. everything is just perfectly balanced imo. this turns out to be very nice for flowers as well. the bokeh is smooth in the center, but quite harsh towards the edges with noticeable spherochromatism. at near distance this matters very little and things typically look silky smooth. basically though, it's one of those lenses where snapshots just consistently come out looking great despite little thought or effort on my part.

you should really look at anden's shots though, his are much nicer than mine.
I am always glad to see posts in this great thread. I have so little time nowadays and I am not contributing as much as I would have liked. Thank you all.
@sebboh do not sell your c/y 35 f1.4!!!, your pictures with that lens are amazing, you always make that lens shows his great pops-out...and I bought it because of your pictures

thanks!
the problem is that it is so big that i rarely take it out of the house these days. i was just shooting some family pictures last night though and they turned out beautiful in a way none of my other lenses could do. i think i need to test out a zm 35/1.4 or lux asph more before i commit to selling...
