I just broke the bank and got a new pc with intels I7 processor and 16 gigs ram and a new LG monitor plus a core 2 duo laptop. I seriously cannot believe I waited this long to upgrade my computer. It makes a world of difference. So fast Soooo fast.

As far as camera stuff I am good I do not feel I am limited in any areas. maybe would pick up an sb 80 if I had an extra 150 laying around.

I feel that pain/high Doug, I spent all of my 5d2 money on a macbook pro.... I needed to upgrade my computer as my PC was having some serious problems. I am pleased I made the purchase, but I am getting used to the switch, and at this point I am pleased to have drank the Kool-Aide

our biggest "off season" purchase is that we finally bought our very first real bed. We've been sleeping on my sister's mattress on my great-grandmother's bed frame. We are kind of ready for something new. It seems to be a fairly wise photography purchase since we need to get our rest ;-)

DB; that is an upgrade worth celebrating;

Tom

I switched to the 24-105L after giving up on 3 copies of the 24-70L over some 5 years or so, they never would focus right with my calibrated 5D's. My 24-105L is sharper than any of them ever were, focus is spot on accurate and I use primes for when I need fast, bokeh, super sharp. The zoom does the in between stuff. I do work with quite a bit more light than you folks do.

Discussed this with a friend tonight, if canon brings out a 24-70 IS as sharp as the nikon version and with a sharper f2.8, the primes are getting relegated to wide open use only. Don't care what it costs. Using primes for groups and portraits is far too much like hard work for all that it's what I've been doing for 2 years now since I gave up on the zoom.

Do y'all find a lot of missed opportunities @ 24-70 because it doesn't have IS?

I have slowly migrated away from zooms and gone prime, with the exception of my 24-105 that you would have to pry from my cold dead fingers, and the new 16-35mm MKII I just picked up. I think the biggest reason I keep the 24-105 is it has such fantastic color and contrasts. Bought a 1DMKIII this past spring to add to the 5D, but will probably replace the 5D with a 5DMKII before spring.
