This was a bizarre sunset. I was on the east side of the island and the sky lit up something nuts. So much purple and magenta. I was staying at my friends community so not much to work with but palms always work. The wind died which allowed some long exposures w/o much movement. Thanks all for the c/c!
Nice set of silhouettes with very nice colors. I really like the landscape versions more than the portraits. Partial to the tilt in #4 vs. a straight on shot as in #3.
Wow - I love the moon in the first image Aaron, but the shot that wins my eye is the second one. I do like the more focused and less wind blown fronds in the last image but the overall variations in the lighting in the second one and the balance of the visual elements leaves me lingering a little longer on #2 than the rest.
My pick for winner here is #2 for the higher range of colour in the sky, and a fantastic self framed composition with the other palms all around the edges. I think it works better than the landscape version because the vertical frame just suits the tall, slender, vertical trunk of the main palm. I could see it on a postcard or travel brochure any day!
