p.1 #1 · leonid meteor shower - help!

Hey all.

A friend and I are gonna go check out the meteor shower tonight. I've never shot one, or even stars, so am seeing your counsel.

Obviously I'm not going to become a virtuoso in one hour on this board, but all i'm looking for is a good starting SS/ISO/f-stop combo idea. What is the general combination you'd use?

Thanks!
Matt

oh also, which two lenses would you guys have attached? I have a f/4 17-40, an f/2.8 100, f/4 70-200, and f/2.8 300.

I'm thinking maybe the 2 f/4s?

Hi Matt
I've never done anything like this but I'd make a couple of test exposures using aperture priority. Then while looking at your histogram change your exposure adjustment so there is just a hint of light in the center of the histo screen.
Since you never know when a meteor will appear you can just keep making exposures until a good one appears. Remember - Film is cheap.
