Is it common for a photographer to demand exclsive rights to a model?
I have a friend that has done some modeling for me, she's not a pro, just a cute girl that likes her picture taken.
She's been approched by a pro photographer who want's to use her for a few local advatertising shoots.
He's told her that once she starts shooting with him that no one that dosn't work for him can shoot her...Unless they pay him for her time.
There is no contract, just model releases with the local companies.
It seems a little fishy to me and I'm just keeping an eye out for my friend.
And to be honest, I don't want to loose access to being able to shoot my friend.
I don't know any pros that work with models regulary so am asking here.
To me IMO, for a model, a portfoilo should be better if it had shots from more than 1 photographer. I mean to me thats just logical.
Any info you guys can shed on this would be great.
I suppose if he were paying her for a full time position and insisted on a no-compete contract, I could see it, but otherwise it sounds like someone to stay very far away from.
