tried moving flash closer to subject, with the greater shooting distance,about 1.5 ft was getting stronger highlights last time as john mentioned, seems to have worked quite well.

Right down here in 'Downunder' land, we have a variation of these bugs that are called Leaf Insects and they are sold in pet stores for about 50 bucks each and they live on/in Gum Trees. Our variety actually sway backwards and forwards all the time to mimic leaves in the wind. . . very cool
