I was finally able to get out and shoot some men's basketball: DII Alaska-Anchorage vs D1 Long Beach State. It was LBSU's homecoming so they had a good vocal crowd which added to the excitement. I shot a Canon 7D with a 70-200 at 1/1000, 2.8, 2000 iso. Any CC would be welcomed and thanks for looking.

Great shots. I wish I could get shots like this, but i guess it takes time. #2 and 4 are my favorites for sure. Did you use strobes for this or does the arena you shot at just have good lighting?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The 7D files look pretty darn good so far and I have enjoyed shooting with it. Like with any camera, you need to play with it to fit your style and found out what works for you.

The arena has some really good lighting so I am fortunate enough to be able to shoot at those setting. The 7D has some good capabilities in the higher iso department so I am very please so far with the results, at least after spending some time tweaking the settings.

My keeper rate was pretty darn high this night but that was not always the case indoors. A few nights early, I shot the schools women's basketball team and my keeper rate was half of what I achieved shooting the men. I ended up slowing down the servo sensitivity and switched from continues tracking to main focus point and the rate went way up. Maybe I should have started out that way anyway.

The verdict is still out for me. A couple of things I really like are the colors and the high iso performance. Both of these areas are upgrades from the 1D MK11 that I was and still am shooting. I really like the features and customization of the auto focus system but my keeper rate is still not as high as with my 1D, and maybe that should be expected. I am still playing with the settings trying to figure out what works best for me given the particular sport I am shooting. One thing that has been posted to death in the canon forum is the softness of the images. I am not a pixel peeper but the images are slightly softer then I expected. Sorry I could not be more decisive but I am still working with the camera and hoping for the best.
