sooooooo... you will hate me for this... buuuuuuuuut...i recently found the highly acclaimed viv series1 90mm 2.5 macro lens ( tokina made version..aka the sharpest one) in perfect condition at a antique store....for wait for it...wait for it...25 flipping dollars!!!! lakjsdf;lkjsdl;k!!!! haha. i had only read about it and seen it online. when i saw it in the glass case...you can imagine how stoked i was. i have to say...it really is all that it is praised to be. i have the m42 screw mount version. i threw it on my k10d just now for some test shots...wow. just thought i'd share some with you. no editing done to show what this baby can really do. i'll be posting a lot more later tommorrow after i take it out for a stroll i would love for others with this lens to post photos taken with it too. thanks a bunch, david.
n0b0 - I suspect this lens might be legendary in the context of vivitar lenses which in general did not have a good reputation but provided some cheap lenses to the market- sounds like this is one of the few good ones
thanks Andreas. do you feel like the extender makes a huge difference. just curious. have you had a chance to do any portraiture with this lens? i cant wait to mess around with that. thanks, david

The Viv 90/2.5 is a great lens. Does 1:1 with a macro adapter. Very nice colors and OOF-areas.
Anden, I was totally blown away by your Cassa Lily image taken with this lens. It also got me started with my collection of alt-lens. I have a similar setup like yours. Think of it now, darn, you have a bad influence on me. Like Anden mentioned, I love the water paint colors it renders and the OOF-areas. It is one of my favorite lens.
Dave, very nice shots. And also a great find / buy.

Thank you! Glad to be an inspiration. I suppose this is the one:
Sorry to be slow - what camera do you have this on and what sort of adapter? I too have one of these lenses and love it (cant wait for spring!) but the adapter is very limited in terms of focus at infinity etc. I dont mind that too much as I bought it for its macro abilitites but am interested in wider use. I have also read the threads in the alt gear section and it does not seem that there are good adapters available for FD to EF. Many thanks
