Paul, not to make light of your comments here, but how does the Cyber Commander hook up to the camera's hotshoe mount? That's one of the strongest point from a photographer's POV w/ PocketWizard is it's ability to screw tightly to the camera. My buddy just tested the Radio Popper and really disliked it because it kept popping off during shooting. Does the Cyber Commander just pressure fit? It looks like it by the pictures.

Sure. And you could glue your speedlight to your camera. The transceiver is very reliable. But what if we come up with an even better transceiver unit at some point?

Friction fit with significant up/down and side to side spring tension. We designed a pretty snug fit and it weighs very little and is small. Never had any complaints about CC or CST falling off. More often it's gee, this fit rather tight.

Does it look professional running around with an aluminum cased monolight frozen to your tounge? =)

I am likely the only person on this entire forum who actually does have to worry about getting stuck to a WL monolight when touching it when it's 30 below zero.

Paul, if it possible to cement this small Transceiver by an acrylic glue together with flash head permanently? How reliable this device?

It's in there firmly--it's not going to fall out. I played with pulling it out.

Just curious, what is the clean sync using the CyberCommander? With my PW's and 5d I can only go to 1/160th.

That's the 5D I'm afraid, the documented 1/200 X Sync is only using canon speedlights. Seems to be exactly the same regardless of the radio trigger used though apparently PC sync cord will get you closer to that 1/200th. Interesting post on strobist a couple of days back on this issue.

It's entirely up to the camera. CC and CS have a sync delay of only 1/4000 second. Our user reports are that will sync at the camera's max stated sync speed in almost every case. As for PW. I believe their delay is longer than this but I haven't checked specs. Most trippers are in the 1/1500 sec range and this will usually require one click slower than the camera's max sync rating.

The 1Ds has very high-velocity shutter curtains to speed across its 24mm frame height; the 15x22mm cameras have consumer-velocity shutter curtains, but they only have to traverse 15mm. The 5D has consumer-velocity shutter curtains having to traverse a full 24mm--one of the cost compromises of the 5D.

With cybersyncs my 5DII syncs at 1/200 and 1/250 bands less than 5% of the frame. They also sync at 1/2000 with my G11.

Okay, so no change from the PW's, if even a bit better. Cool.

This is far better than Elinchrom Skyport, BTW. My 5DII only syncs at 1/160th with it, compared to 1/200th with PWs.

Word is now the first of March-ish, due to trouble with vendors not supplying enough critical parts.

I'm currently getting 1/3200 syc speed with Pocket Wizard's TT5 on my 5DII and one on a XL1600. Super cool baby!

"Word is now the first of March-ish, due to trouble with vendors not supplying enough critical parts."

"We will sell no wine before its time". Good advice for a business to adhere to.

I have my order in for four Einsteins too. I to wish they were coming in sooner but I understand delays with parts. I've see this issue for over 8 months with industries, everything from raw materials to minor parts. No one is stocking anything and it is like a domino effect, all it takes in one small part to stop completion. A sad result of our current economy.

Back when I was in the military intel business, that is exactly what we saw happening to the Soviet Union in the late 80s. We weren't quite sure what to make of it at the time. But now we know what that situation heralds at the national level.

It's hard to argue that TANSTAAFL is not constantly in effect. It's been the unbreakable rule so far.
