I found a little time today to get out and do something... I decided to climb our local cinder cone "Black Butte" today. It was a wonderful day and great but freezing hike/climb. I spent about 3 hours on the mountain and got halfway up it, I didn't summit because I was so busy shooting that I was running out of daylight and I didn't want to descend in the dark. By late afternoon in many places the rocks were already beginning to ice up and that made footing for both myself and the tripod rather difficult.
Here's 11 of the 184 frames I shot on this climb today -
Incase you aren't familiar with THIS Black Butte (there are several) this one is located in far Northern California, Siskiyou County. It's located directly between 14,179' Mt. Shasta to the East and 9,000' Mt. Eddy to the West.
Hey Tim! You need to go back and read the posting guidelines...
A great series of shots here. Looks like a cool place, and I think you made a good decision to turn back around. My favorite is actually the first one. That one really shines!

Can you explain what he did wrong so I don't make the same mistake and get hit with a stick also? I'm not seeing it.
Great shots Tim. I bet that was a numbing hike. It looks very cold.
*****edit**** it's the number of images, right? Can someone really present a collection of images that tell a story with only 4 images in the collection? And only one post per day? Who has actually complained that there are too many photos in a post? I know, rules are rules. Anyway, I like your 11 images, Tim. You presented a story to me about a place that I have never seen. I appreciate seeing your images this morning.
Great series here you really captured the ruggedness of the area, looks like an awesome area to spend a lot of time in, digging the fresh snow fall contrasting with the evergreens and pine cones, very nice work here Tim

Thanks Jim,
The first has a very wintery feel to it for me at least. Glad you like it.

It was quite a day and I am pleased to have gotten some decent photos out of it.
