When this was first written, it was published in our monthly news letter for the club. Many asked for it on disk, so I included it on one of the utility disks we sold. It was passed around via email (a new application back then... anybody remember VisiCalc?)
When present on an electrical board, you get entries like ...
" 2 members to point out that the wire size used for that bulb is wrong."
" 5 members to point out that the wire size has nothing to do with it, it's the voltage appllied."
" 11 members to say it's not the voltage that matters, it's the amps."
I can only imagine where it will go from here. Since this board generally has anywhere from two thousand to three thousand people on line at any time, I wonder how the Chinese translation will turn out.
At least a dozen to declare that it's not the bulb, it's the electrician.
One guy (and you KNOW who you are!) to warn that only a top-of-the-line Gitzo step-ladder can possibly be sturdy enough for the job.
At least 1/4 of all respondents aghast at the amount of flare the new bulb casts. A few brave souls to reply that it's sometimes OK to break the rules.
A bunch of guys to complain that the background illumination is too defined or edgy. the same amount to declare that the background illumination is too soft & creamy.
Several older guys to bemoan that this kind of thing never happens on those OTHER forums.
One guy to bemoan that he had brought two dozen expensive new bulbs with him, on his trip back from Italy, but the damned airline made him put the case in baggage and they all got broken.
Another guy to bemoan that he had bought FOUR dozen expensive new bullbs, but he left them in the front seat of his car overnight in the South Bronx, and can you believe it? Someone stole them!
Several guys from the alt forum, to declare categorically that those expensive German bulbs are far superior, as long as you're willing to deal with hand-cranking the generator.
