I really like my android phone. A real keyboard is a must for me, and Android has all the basic apps you need plus. Google maps and trak on it are tops for me.
iPhone but AT&T service is very poor. I avoided the iPhone until the 3Gs and the updated OS that allowed landscape typing. Makes a world of a difference in typing, actually easier than my previous Motorola Q with physical keyboard.

Just spent 2 weeks with my sister who was in love with her new iphone. I have a second hand blackberry. Every time a question came up, I got the answer first.
Amazing the questions that come up when you're hanging out with family helping a chemo patient pass the time with old westerns. Didja know that Jane Russell was censored for her silhouette in "outlaw", and that the Cohen brothers are remaking "True Grit"? (
Hey, Suzi - I am so sorry your family is going through a rough time with medical issues. Hang in there. I'm sending prayers your way, for you and for your family.
Ok, I decided on a new phone! I'm getting the HTC Touch Pro 2. It has Windows Mobile which I've been on for awhile with my Treo and will sync with my Outlook. Ordering today!
iPhone 3G. Not thrilled with AT&T but unlike Verizon at least I get notified when I miss calls. Verizon over the past year developed a nasty habit of not letting know people had called for several days if ever.
what ever you decide to buy now will be outdated and outmoded within the next 90-120 days so enjoy your toy while you have it.
Sort of like the marketing that 8gb storage is the norm, then 16, and then 32 if you want a lot? You have to buy the whole phone according to how much memory you want / or will want in a year?
Any phone ,doesn't matter what OS, that doesn't use removable memory gets checked of my list for that reason alone.
Software upgrades can allow certain phones to accept larger cards down the road.
Blackberry Bold on AT&T with no complaints on service and I travel coast to coast.. I tried the iphone but could not make the touch screen work for me. Not being able to change the battery was also an issue.
The Droid is worth a look. Mine is too new to really know how well it will work out, but I like a keyboard available, a very high quality display, and free Google maps for a navigation ap. The Verizon network really is better in many places for coverage and low drop rate, and the voice quality on the Droid is very good. I doubt the Droid will be an iPhone killer, but at least it should be serious competition. And we know competition is good ... thank you Canon AND Nikon for pushing each other to inovate.
I absolutely hate my blackberry. Surfing the web on it sucks a$$. Verizon has great reception but it's not worth it in my opinion. Also, I have a slingbox and it can be used with the Iphone or blackberry (but not with Verizon). I'm thinking of terminating my contract and paying the $250 (rape) fee just to get rid of it.
Well just thought I would update this... I ended up staying with Verizon and got a Driod Eris made by HTC.
All I can say it is kicks some major a$$. The apps are sweet and there are alot of them to. The email setup it great and the fact that its a phone that works everywhere I go. I am way more happy with this phone than a crackberry.
I love how poor AT&T gets it in the neck when part of the reason the iphone chokes so bad (from what I've read) is that it is hardware compromised. The crummy battery life is just one example. The wireless chip and a few other components are also supposedly not as powerful as they could be to ensure that the nice slim shape is maintained. Don't get me wrong... I hate AT&T with a passion for numerous reasons, but I'm also not a great fan of Apple.
Anyone got a Nexus One yet? Looks like a nice, if slightly cheesy looking phone but Android is still majorly lacking in some areas IMO (no PC sync, no remote wipe, no multitouch etc.)
I have lusted over an iPhone for some time-- but the recent crop of android phones has likely changed my mind.
I don't want to sign up with ATT; I have Verizon.
I want multitasking.
I want Android.
I want dual CDMA/GSM w/ SIM slot so I can use the phone around the world with local numbers.
I want Google Voice compatibility in the form of an app/built-in dialing.
Maybe the next round of N1 releases will do that. Too bad the Imagio only runs WM.
the waiting game is frustrating... I've been waiting essentially for an unlocked version of (or equivalent to) the iphone for a year or more for all 2G and 3G GSM networks. Still waiting. Even the N1 is still too compromised (no multitouch is a deal killer for me and apparently makes typing a PITA, plus it only supports one of the US 3G bands).
If only Apple would sell unlocked iphones at *reasonable* prices (like $500) then I might bite. But I'm not going to lock myself into a 2-year contract and still have a locked phone at the end of it.
Like the mythical perfect camera, no perfect phone exists.
