iPhone is a cool phone, indeed. I will give it that much. For 90% of the population, it does the job and more. But, for super geeks, it's lackluster at best.

I even saved a bride's first dance one time! DJ had wrong remix of their choice first-dance song. It was important that they had a very specific version because they had choreographed a nice dance for it. I was able to download their song on the spot ($.99) and then save the DJ from a bigger embarrassment.
Ive done that too! But i had to download about 10 songs cause the dj's cd player fried!
iPhone saves the day!
I hate my Iphone. The internet is no where close to verizon. I hate it when my friend already has the answer to something before my internet even comes up.
Have to put my vote in here for anything Android (open source Google OS). I've got the HTC Magic and it kicks arse on just about everything iphone has to offer right out of the box, then there's all the free aps.
I'm curious to see how this Android pans out....especially once the mighty Google starts flexing its considerable muscle. I'm going to be in the market for a new phone here pretty soon. I know I'm going Verizon so it's a Blackberry of some sort or one of the new Droids.

Man, I swear photographers are all apple fan-boys.
LoL, agreed. There are so many things that frustrate me about the iPhone and Apple, however there isn't really a decent device that fit my wants list better than that phone. I can't wait to see how Android evolves.
Same here; love it. You do NOT have to unlock it to get calls, all you have to do is click the green call button. I love getting e-mails, no matter where I am. I get great reception & have done conference calls for business from the Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Wash. D.C., New York, you name it. Love the AT&T (formerly Cingular) plan with rollover minutes.
My experience with At&t was.........way too many dropped calls. They've been my DSL provider for at least 6 years, and love it. I had their U-verse cable, until I moved last year. The cable was awsome, and luckily I was in one of the areas they were installing the system. You still can't get it unless you're in a large city/test market. I'll get it again when they offer it where I live now.
I think At&t has failed in the wireless department. They offer a lot of other great products, but their wireless network needs attention. They've been spending more investment funds on other services, and sort of forgot about their wireless service.
Also, Verizon pissed off Stevie J a while back with an ad, so the Verizon/iPhone marriage will probably never happen now.
I'm in the same boat as you, so I thought I'd chime in. I'm just about to pull the trigger on the Motorola Droid. I do a lot of research when I'm giving money to someone, and I can say that this phone, combined with Verizon, deserves a look at if you are ready to give someone your money.
Flash is another thing to consider. One runs it, the other doesn't as far as I know.
Steve could solve all of this if he made this an open-ended phone. The only, and I mean only app that I see as being a huge plus is the CC app that someone already mentioned.
Just spent 2 weeks with my sister who was in love with her new iphone. I have a second hand blackberry. Every time a question came up, I got the answer first.
Amazing the questions that come up when you're hanging out with family helping a chemo patient pass the time with old westerns. Didja know that Jane Russell was censored for her silhouette in "outlaw", and that the Cohen brothers are remaking "True Grit"? (
I absolutely adore my iPhone (not an Apple fanboy here - I wouldn't touch a Mac or Macbook with a bargepole).
Thing is that here in the UK we have a choice of providers (Orange and O2) and they are both excellent.
Some of the other phones out there are probably every bit as good as the iPhone and may even better it in some areas but honestly, anyone who says the iPhone is no good is either brain damaged or is lying to you.
We had US Cellular for about 15 years - calls only no text/data. We got tired of being dropped all the time. Went to AT&T and the new iPhone and couldn't be happier. We are hooked on the the data but still don't text.... No more dropped calls-Thank you AT&T!!!

My HTC takes a microSD card which is up to at least 16 gigs now, that's a lot of music...

16 GB wouldn't even touch my 65GB collection. My Electronica playlist is 4.5GB. Then I have tons of hip-hop, rock, industrial, alternitive, folk, indie, etc etc etc
