Welcome to the forum. Looks like you're off to a good start. Nice detail on the fruit fly. Would also work rotated to the left IMO.

Thanks, I have pretty much zero setup for lighting. Used a flashlight to illuminate them and didn't try to make a back ground that would bring out more details of the fly. By the way, I'm using a reversed 18-55mm canon on my t1i. Working on making an attachment to put my ring flash on that reversed lens. Maybe I should just get better lighting. Also have a 28mm f/2.8 FD manual canon lens on the way. Can't wait to see what I can do with that attached to my 100mm macro.
