This kid made an amazing one-handed grab for 36 yards that gave the team I shoot for a crucial first down. I was just fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.
You have to love the 1D's 8.5 fps! This the sequence I got on this catch. Let me know what you think.
as is often the case with sequences there's usually one frame that can stand alone and tell the story and in this case it's the first frame. nice grab by both of you.

Thank you! I just wanted to show the series to show that he did catch it. It was an amazing reception by the receiver!

But check out his hands again... in the first picture, his left hand is extended to stop the ball. Then he squeezes his hands together (as my flash recharges) as he dives. In the 2nd picture above, he ends up grasping the ball in his right hand.

I think I'd go with the 2nd frame.
IMHO, the first one most people would guess as probably incomplete.

Actually, those were all shot at f/2.8. I think the bokeh is not better because the subject was right in front of me. That catch took place right on the sideline and I was only 2 yards away from the play. That is the only thing I can think of.
