p.1 #1 · Fort Tilden - Hawk Migration Winding Down
With a cold front pasing through, and winds of 15-20 mph last Friday, I had expectations of a BIG DAY. However, my timing was off. September through October is usually a good time to view accipitors, and November to view buteos. But Friday produced only 1 Kestral, 1 Coopers, 3 Red-Tails, 2 Harriers, and 6 "Sharpies"; the migration season is definietely winding down. There was a treat all day of kettles of Red-Shouldered Blackbirds.
Included are photos of the some of the Red-tails, Red- shouldered Blackbirds, and some photos of the view from the observation platform.
C&C welcome as always.
