Well this is one spectacular way to enter the Magic Drainpipe Club !!! I thought I got a good deal on mine @ $650 with hood, tripod mount and hard case in mint/new condition.
My most recent steal of a deal was a Digital Rebel w/ Kit lens and accessories, Digital Rebel XT w/ Kit lens and accessories, and a 70-300 IS all for $350, and turned both cameras for $425.00, still have the lens, can't make up my mind to let it go just yet.
absolutely mint 10D and 24-105 L for 400 dollars. sold them both, which made it possible to pay bills and buy a couple of xmas presents for my wife and kid this year.

Time to revive this thread again with another purchase I did today. 80-200mm f2.8 L, glass is pristine and is very sharp; no diffrence in IQ between my 70-200m f2.8 and this one; barrel has some use but everything is working fine and look intact; Cost $75!
Haha I saw that on craiglist last week and figured it was either a typo or a scam so I didn't bother following up. Great find!
Nice deals. But it seems the FE and 40D are wrongly (dis)connected to/from lenses The 40D doesn't take rolls of film. And the Nikon FE can't mount EF glass Why not combine the 180ED with the FE It seems to be a more logical combination. Sell it to a Nikon lover and buy an EF 180 for the 40D. That will focus finer and give more EOSfun. As a budget solution this is a nice hobby kit though
I recently found a $10,000 check, in our local Post Office parking lot. It was from an Attorney, for an estate settlement. I gave it to the Post office, with my name and phone number (looking for a tank you only), never got a call, but did find out from the postal cherk, it was returned. Best camera purchase-Widelux, new in box-$40.00. Best lens purchase-Canon EF 300 and 400 F2.8 lenses mint to like new for $5000 for the pair.

Ah, I see, you are that kind of gear collector

At least you don't spend an awful lot of money on your collection. You seem to be able to smell sweet deals don't you I guess they have job a for you at the customs ...

I know, I know. I am one like that myself. I still know to make fun out of shooting with an old F2Photomic, Rolleiflex or Linhof .... But then again, they don't give me what the 1DsmkIII and the bag of lenses brings: EOSfun
The guys wife made him sell it immediately, for whatever he could get for it, or else be ready to pay alimony. I am guessing she was not a photographer.
Traded a 200 2.8 and cash for a 70-200 2.8 (which was a deal itself) and a like new 2.8 IS showed up in the mail! Shipping error, did the right thing and sent it back.
I passed up on a 16-35mm 2.8 for $600. Had the cash in my pocket, but couldn't do it. Still kinda kick myself, but i have an awesome 17-40 and I was able to put that monet toward a new 50D, so it wasn't a total loss.

Was it Mark I or Mark II? Either way it would have an excellent deal.
