Take a look at this page. I didn't order from here, but this guy obviously doesn't know anything about pricing cams: D700-$1000; D5000-$2000; D3x-$1200!!!...OK
Oh yeah, let us try to take advantage of that simple sap and "steal" his D3X from him for $1,200. I think it would be best if we sent him cash immediately before someone else snags that deal.
Take a look at this page.
Hi,
I am a sucker just born yesterday, please tell me where I can send in my check for the D700 at $1,200...wait, make that $2,400 for 2
Bought a 300/2.8 IS, March of 2008. Seller, decided he had a dilemma, regarding shipping. My birthday was next day, which he knew about. Thus he decided to ship it Overnight, at no additional expense to myself. I was not expecting to receive the lens via Overnight Shipping. Receiving the 300/2.8 IS, made for one Heck of a Birthday Present. I also received a 1DMKIIN, on my birthday, from a different seller, however, I was expecting the N. Receiving both pieces of gear, made for a tremendous Birthday, which I doubt I will ever forget. Both pieces of gear, are my bread & butter, money wise.
A used Canon EF 200 2.8 II on e-bay for $300 on a buy now, it was 15 seconds old - it's all about timing these days! Sharp, clean, and by far my best prime lens.

I picked Canon 17-40 f4 L lens today in $360 off craigslist! It is not stolen or something like that. The guy bought it 5 years back and thought according to what he had paid this was the right price!! US date code and really in mint condition.
Canon 50 1.0L in '02 for 350CAD! sold it and payed off a pretty big loan
I bought it off an open auction from an insurance company (no names) that salvaged a lot of photographic equipment from stores damaged by the 911 in NY. They sold a lot of stuff for near nothing in a period of one month in February. Most of the stuff went to dealers (i.e. a well known Toronto store opened a whole second store on all that merchandise alone)!

why do you always have racist comments?
Why is illegal aliens a racist comment? Seeing how any non-us citizen who sneaks into the US illegally, can be ANY race INCLUDING white, black, green or purple. Completely off topic, but it's a mindset like this that is going to let the folks who think they need to illegally rather than legally enter the country, ruin our country.
The only way I can see this is racist, is the possibility he's referring to a Mexican, and then it's even racist for YOU to make that comment. Why? Because you're assuming the only illegals who want to work are of Mexican heritage.
Too many people have it in their head that it's wrong to be proud of their heritage AND where they live. If I move to Canada, I'm not an Irish Canadian, I'm a Canadian with Irish blood.
Back on topic, I picked up both of my 580EXII's for 325 or less.
Like a lot of folks here I'm a deal hound - but I'm recovering. The sad thing is that these days I walk away from deals I once would have jumped on. It's just a question of what your time is worth. So my rule now is that I never buy gear unless I really expect to get significant use out of it (as opposed to the expectation of just reselling it).
So this weekend I passed up an 85L for $1K I didn't really need knowing that I would have to spend hours in driving, plus the time of dealing with buyers and shipping - all to make maybe $200. Sorry, but my weekends are worth more than that to me.
Aside from saving time and freeing me from obsessive scouting for deals this approach has the karmic benefit of saving cool deals for those who really need/want them. I figure this way maybe I'll load the scales up enough that some day I'll run across that miraculous 800L for $5K....
