I just picked up a Zeiss 60mm s-planar and it will not fit on my 5D2. I won't shave the 5D2 so I need to find out what I can do to the lens.
There are two levers on the rear that stick out past everything else quite a bit. I really don't think a thicker adapter will move them far enough away but I will try that later today.
Does it have to have a leverectomy? There are two areas - the ap lever and a fixed post - is this usually what needs to be trimmed down?
Has anyone else had issues with this lens and a 5D/2?
Can you post a picture of the rear of the lens mount? It may be that there is a small, removable, semi-circular piece that is causing the problem. That is what often causes issues mounting some of the 35-70's until it's easily removed. Not sure if it is on your 60 though.
First picture, left side of lens and just above flush with the rear element, I think that is the piece that needs to be removed. See if you notice a small screw that attaches it.

I don't see a screw and that area seems to be made into the same part of the base as the ap lever.
It might be wise to put something a harder on top of the tissue (and under the masking tape) - something that can take an impact and protect the rear lens element. Just in case. I've heard about people destroying their rear elements in operations like this, so better to take every precaution.
Rachp: great find, I love my 60 - though now I use it on Sony.
Masking tape and a little hard hat (stripped from a plastic single use cup) with a soft cloth underneath will protect the lens.
When filing down the sharkfin: place the lens tipped over on it's side with the fin out to the side and on something that will not cause it to slip away from you. File away from the top of the fin and outward, away from the lens. This way you will have the least amount of file debris entering the lens. You can also easily gauge the progress when it is lying on the side.
I used a Dremel and a vacuum cleaner so my filing down was a swift affair but whatever floats your boat. On another lens I did not bother with the dremel as the metal is quite soft and requires little effort to file down so I used a small but wide metal file.
A piece of sanding paper - or a nail file - to round off any sharp edge remaining and you are good to go.

i just checked my 60mm Planar and it does not have either of the protrusions.Maybe someone shaved them off before i got it or its a different lens.Is yours made in Japan or West Germany? Mine is made in West Germany.Hope it goes well.It is well worth the effort

(1) Take some saran wrap and wrap around the lens.
(2) stick the protruding piece thru the saran wrap
(3) take a filer and file down, its not that hard....
Its not really noticeable, and doesnt look bad at the end.
I am going to give it a go tonight and maybe I will have some test shots tomorrow.....
