Thought you might enjoy a some new clips with the 7d/500mm. Some are a little oof but some of the stuff looks pretty good. This is the second time I have actually used the video function.. but pretty fun.
Really neat! Its pretty tough the manual focus action with long glass, definietly when you 'grew up' in the digital/AF era like me. Since getting the 7D and shooting some video, I have gotten much much better at manual focusing.
well, on your clip, definitely seems like a lot of your action is a bit soft, but hard to tell if that is because of the compression or not (likely is). Probably your best clips were the ones taken with the 85mm. Gotta love the shallow DoF in video.
Hey Kevin excellent effort, didn't look like the first.
I'm also trying to learn the video function on my D90. I have some vid from some flat track motorcycle races that I have to learn to edit.
I've tried stills on Animoto. You might like to try their free 10 sec clips. They have a production platform where you can put stills and vid. Pretty good for uptempo stuff.
This was my first attempt (&frankly I haven't gotten better)
Seems to me softness in vid is not as big an issue as stills in the screen sizes produced. I didn't notice softness in your production, I was interested in the action you caught & put together.
It's really hard to manual focus without a tripod, you did a super job
