Does anyone have a good recommendation regarding Zone information (i.e. book, etc. )... ideally as it pertains to digital sensor dynamic range limitations & post processing aspects of digital photography?
Frankly I think it's somewhat obsolete with digital capture where you can look at your histogram to nail your exposure. Sometimes your scene will have too much contrast, so you'll have to either choose to blow out some highlights, crush some shadows, or take multiple shots and combine them later.
Exposing "to the right" and pulling back the exposure in post (sorta like underdeveloping w/ zone?) is very useful... but it feels like DSLR DR is so limited compared to print film that you don't have as much flexibility to use the zone system.
What good is the Zone System without all the endless experimentation in the darkroom developing film 10 thousand different ways? Nothing like the smell of developer and fixer!
