p.1 #1 · Just the kids

Just the kids at the moment... I haven't worked the shots of the parents or the family group shots... just like the look of these head shots. Should make for nice Christmas cards....I hope?

Canon 135L/natural light

Skin tones might be off... need to calibrate the monitor. FUN!

No offense meant but what is up with the bags under their eyes? I like 1 and 3 lighting is a little less flat compared to the others.

These look really nice. Great expressions, good lighting and clean backgrounds.
Just a detail, Hatch, but check the hair of each photo for lighting. Maybe a hair light would help. It's minor, however.

Many thanks for the kind words. We might have been able to bounce a flash in to the reflector.... in these shots... 100% natural light... nothing to help them out. Good point! The vignette I added might need to be looked at as well... could be the cause of the darker hair on top.

Appreciate the comments.

First time to EVER comment on FM. Not even certain I am doing this correctly. My opinion...great photos. Someone mentioned the bags under the eyes. This didn't jump out at me, either. But...my kids all have allergies and they have bags most of the time. Sometimes we "fix" them in photos, other times we leave them because, well, it's who they are and what they look like. Just my .02!

Thank you for taking the time to post. I appreciate the comments.

My partner Kristy pointed out the older daughter had dark circles under her eyes we could remove... I didn't and she is going to beat me with a stick. ROFL

When we photograph adults...I try to clean everything up as much as possible... for the kids...I didn't smooth the skin or really do much to the shot. A little healing here and there with the skin if there was a scratch or rough patch. I see the point about the eyes... I might go back and slighty adjust the shots. As you mentioned... this is what they look like... well... except for the teeth... I did boost them in the end.

Okay...enough babble...

Thanks again for the comments. Gald you enjoyed the images.

The darkness is actually on top of the cheeks as well as on the top of the head. You either had a reflective bright surface below the kids or very dark surface above them absorbing the light. Nice pics though, 135L makes backdrops unnecessary.
