Here's a selection from this weekend at Bolsa Chica in "the study of light". The colors and look of these are pretty true to how they were shot with only minor tweaks. Several are uncropped.
Nice set, Ken.
I like 8 & 9. Not often that I see ruddy ducks photographed. I'm still trying to get a shot of one of the few reported loon in the area.
Wow earred grebe that close, wonderful! I love it in the back of BC when the sun sets. Havn't walked back there since I bought the 500. lol. I may try it this week!
You're right Ken, the golden hour light is even better in the Fall.
I like the Pelican and Ruddy Duck pics best... 6 and 8.
Very nice study... is there going to be a test

The Ruddys are not in breeding color, but I still liked the look.
I hear you on the Loons. We have one or two that stop here during the year. Sometimes they cooperate by coming in close, but other times you're lucky if they just give you a "documentation" shot.

Beautiful study of the area in sweet light, Ken.

The beauty of that 500 mm is the mobility and hand-hold-ability that it affords. It would be a shame not to let it go through its paces in the back.
