Settle down girl... I don't see why you feel the need to "defend" yourself, I wasn't even "attacking" you, I was just making an observation. I really couldn't care less what software you use.

I didn't even look at your profile, I just thought that you've been a member in this forum since '05 and you never read any post about DPP here?

Friends again?

Thanks Yakim, and I do realize this... That's why I guess I need to open up the CD that comes with this camera and install DPP! I will check out the Master thread and read up on this further... I hope Adobe has these updates soon though! Take care, and thanks again!

I tried to rise above, and contact the first poster via PM as I, personally, think public bashing is of poor taste and down right mean. However, since this has come up again, I guess I need to "defend" myself.

I have not opened, or used that CD that comes with any of the digital SLR's I've purchased in the last 5 or 6 years because I HAVE NOT HAD TO. I have the

why? when i got my 40D(after upgrading from 10D) I pulled the body and the manual out of the box and never looked to see what else was in there.

It works fine with lightroom/PS why would I faff with the canon software? I'd used it a bit with my 10D decided it was clunky and not suited to my needs and removed it from my computer.

I never did quite get what dpp is... Am I missing out on something I should know about?

I can't answer that, but I'm sure there are plenty of people that can. I, like you, am so happy with my adobe products, I have never felt the need to look beyond them. Now with my new 7D, however, I think I have no choice, as the PP software I/we use, is not compatible with the 7D, yet.....

DPP often does a better job at RAW conversions than LR. I use both LR and DPP, sometimes I prefer one, sometimes the other.

I moved from a 30D to a 7D and am thrilled with the autofocus in motion. I mostly do "kids" in motion. This soccer season has had a lot more keepers. My real test is the keeper rate from the aquarium. I don't have statistics, but I can tell you, significantly more keepers.

If you can swing it, I'd keep the 40D and get the 7D. I don't want to sell my 40D when I buy a 7D. I want to always have an extra body to fill my needs.

I'm not the richest guy out there, but I can say that if it's possible, I won't sell the 5Dmk1 that I have, when I buy a mk2.

DPP has a transfer to Adobe button, it will decode the RAW image and then transfer individual or bulk files to photoshop or you can specify a different editor.

The transfers are done as tiff files.

This lets you decode the image in DPP, which does the best job, while you can still edit in lightroom or photoshop.

The process takes a few minutes, but is better than the Adobe Beta.

Robert I wish I didn't have to sell my old cameras to buy new... but I do! My 40D is gone, and I was actually sad to see it go! I take great care of my gear, this man got a great camera!

Scales, thanks for the transfer to Adobe info. I hope the camera arrives soon so I can try it out! I'm getting excited!!!!

I don't have the 7D yet. I considered the pro bodies too, but just don't have the money to get one in the condition I want... plus, I'm enamored by a lot of the new features the 7D has that they don't.. Time will tell!

You'll be happy with the upgrade Lisa... I use both the 40D and the 7D and the 7D is definitely a worthwhile move.
Since you already placed the order, I don't have to sell you on it. But, rest assured, you'll love the 7D way more than you'll miss the 40D

I think that the 7D is the first dslr for me that is so well designed and so full of features and capabilities that I really won't care what upgrades and new cameras come along over the next couple of years. This camera is pretty much everything I'd been hoping for in a dslr. The more I use it the more excited about it I get.

kodakeos--the weathersealing is comparable to that on the EOS 1N. In other words, pretty decent. It has seals around the buttons and doors, and it has much tighter seams internally. You won't have to worry much about it getting a little wet.

I just went from 2 50D to 2 7D and the change was well worth it to me.

The biggest problem I've had shooting the 7D and the 40D is that the buttons are in different places. I have keep reminding myself which camera is in hand so I know what controls are where. Something that becomes second nature if you use only one body, handicaps you trying to use both cameras in the same shoot.
