Well, based on brief initial testing/comparison I'd say that IQ was about the same as I see from 4.8.1, Adrian - very good, and better than pretty much anything else - but for my stuff (birds with a 40D) I'm still going to give the nod to Bibble 5.
I have it installed now and have run a few 7D and 5DII images test images through it ... it is doing a superb job on the few images that I've processed (especially impressed with what it is doing with the 7D images).

best conversion has been decided for years. The high end ad/production crews the world over us Capture Pro, and have for a while. This isn't a case of just using what they know, as digitechs are easy to hire for a given program, and it hasn't changed a bit form Capture.

Yet the vast majority stick with Adobe converters, Patrick - which is why threads like this are useful, if only to let people know that there is life outside of the Adobe hegemony.

Honestly can not see any difference on output comparing my 4.8.3 and the new 5.0 version... There are a few nice features, but not sure if it's worth the money.
I find the output from V4.8 Top Notch, and it's been rock solid since v4.5!

Downloading now, cruising at 150KB/s, down from the usual 700+, so those servers must be stressed! Thanks for the update, looking forward to it, hoping the ui is more responsive, slicker, etc.

Any tips for sharpening/NR in C1 v5? I find that the conversions are slightly crisper and cooler than ACR, but also have considerably more, albeit tighter noise.

I find the UI pretty much the same as V4.8 really. Haven't had any problems with speed since 4.5.
Don't like that there is no upgrade path for us with non-PRO users wishing to stay that way... it seems either get a new lic for €99 or go for the full monty at €229

One of the best RAW converters for sure, have used it for years, I am running C1 Pro 3.8.3 now, will save the $100, not upgrade to the C1 Pro 5.0 by now.

I wonder if they're going to come out with an update for 4.8 that will support the 7d. I sure hope they don't do the same as Abode and charge for camera support.
My profile also shows one free upgrade left yet it won't let me activate.

My profile shows one free update but v5 is a paid upgrade. I did not think about new camera support but it may be that we would be forced to upgrade.
