Dan, that's not the "rumour" section. Most likely Keith was just referring to Canon's press statement which said end of Dec.
The rumours are further down the page, with annotated dates, under "Latest Info"
Rumors..?? Either or...cant come soon enough! Canon's press statement here in the US stated differently...or rather it did in late November.. As did Europe and posters in this forum and others on the MKIV.

Canon is already "second fiddle" as the saying goes. They lost their first place standing in 2007 (actually it was lost before, it just showed up then) and I'm pretty sure Nikon/Sony will trounce them soon (with their next releases). Canon is playing catch up on most things (AF, ISO, body features, etc.), but I don't care about video....
In case you have not known this already, Nikon lost MAJOR market shares when the m4/3 stuff showed up. Everyone lost a bit but nowhere as badly as Nikon. So, Canon is leading by quite a bit this year...
There is no doubt Nikon will come up with showing great in their next releases. BUT judging by their huge financial losses this year (low demand + strong Yen), don't count on new exciting Nikon releases soon. Canon is still in the black financially, so they'll be fine for the next little while.
I am from Ireland and am currently working at Jodrell Bank. Dan IS correct. Last weekend while home in Ireland, I stopped by Camera Centre and saw the dealers Canon Press release with excatly what Dan and many other posters(1 membre even said beginning to mid November!) state about mid-Dec for UK/Europe.Also we do extensive purchasing from Park Camera and they also confirm initial Canon statement to some dealers "release" date for UK sales was mid December. That has changed and we have been informed that end December-beginning of 2010 is new "release date".
Adam I dont see where Dan stated Canon press release was via Northlight. It was via their website. He posted same quote as I am for your FYI. His point , I suspect, is that it isnot here yet!!!

He didn't. He said the press release said differently:

And I showed it didn't.
But anyway, this is a non-issue.. I just want my camera!!

I have been told I'll have mine despatched to me on Friday this week so I should get it on Saturday morning or Monday next week. Assuming they get 10 or more in the first delivery, you should be in the same position Adam.
Why? First wait if it focuses right. Else your money will be gone for lot of troubles under the Christmas tree. Of all the systems in the MkIV, I expect the AF to be spot on. If not, it's curtains for Canon and they know it.
Yes you expect it, but it's Adam his money. One can never be sure. Better wait a while. Canon has to gamble with Olympic Wintergames and Nikon close. I expect they have been working on AF. But camera systems are very complex today and Canon is not a holy saint. They have caused problems in the past and made no confession. The text of the press releases sound same as the 1DmkIII.

It may sound the same to you but top of the features list on the press release is all about the new AF system:
"New 45-point Area AF sensor including 39 cross-type AF points with f/2.8 support plus new AI Servo II AF with improved algorithm."
It sounds to me like they are strongly emphasising the point that it's not the same AF system as the MkIII.
I don't think the system will be perfect. In fact, I'm quite certain that it will fail under certain circumstances.
But that's fine with me. I'm happy for the system to make mistakes every now and then because I'm a realist, but of course it's got to work MOST of the time

yes and exactly that is what they said in the press release of the 1DIII too, to stress it had improved algorithm in comparison with predecessor camera. I have nothing against it, but I have become bit skeptical. See it before I believe it. Test it before I give money to Canon for it.
