2 is great...wow....yeah all that.
1 is touching and a very cool photo for the family to have.

It does hurts you at a PPA judging level. My favorite critique was "Beautiful woman Tony. Shame about that horrible accident she was in where she lost her other hand".
Now - do the WPPI judges judge under the same criteria? I have no idea. I really like the Curtain image regardless... but the missing body part *may* ding it.
As a follow-up - I got dinged for the guy missing a finger. It's there... just curled up in her belt... I thought I should have cloned it in before the event.. but I got lazy.
more love for 3.. mixed feelings about 4, its way busier and the couple is way smaller than the clean, simple comps you present in the other 3. Agreed that the title can make a difference in one's mental perception... however I have no title suggestions

It could be either. Usually determined by what is the main subject and which is the supporting subject but in this case they are both interdependent on each other.
I am only guessing but i think the judges may lean to the statue as the main being in focus so perhaps details. Would work in any of those categories though
RE: Hand.
The judges may or may not have an issue with it. However, there are two reasons why for ME it doesn't cause a problem, and is different from Tony's example.
1. Its PJ, not portraiture. I didn't pose the little girl that way.
2. The hand's obscurement is part of the fundamental action of the image. There is no way that she could be playing with the curtains in that manner and still have her hand visible.
Again, though, the judges may not see it that way.
