I didn't modify the inside of my inverters at all, Dave (Tetrode) did some hackery to get his plug outside and to fix some cables inside. If you're good with a dremel, iron, and glue gun, it's not too hard.

Thanks Bacilonur!
I think i'll start with your build first and then maybe attack Dave's build for my second pack later. So I assume you have to open the 1050 then to plug in your light? or did you make a notch for the power cord so you can still close the case while it's plugged in?

If you look at his pictures on page 2 you will see that he just cut a hole in the side to put a cord through. There's not enough room inside to be able to plug in a cord without modifying the case somehow.

Thanks for the heads up. I absolutely love this thread but I need something that is a little bit beafer. I am looking for 7.5 - 12 aH SLA battery to put into a pelican case with an inverter but now I need another inverter.

Which battery and case are you looking at?
That I am not sure about yet either but very very preliminary research has come up with the Pelican 1150 and WKA12-10F2 battery (5.94 x 2.56 x 3.74) but still need an inverter to get a total weight and cost.

Tom,
Inverter did not work with my alienbees. not sure if its a bad one or not at this point. will do some more testing...the green light comes on, on the inverter, but it won't power anything, not even a lamp.

And why would that be?
The inverter is junk?
You got a bad one?
It is too big?
It blew up your strobes?
You did not like the color?
In that case you got a bad one, sent it back. Unfortunately, corporations figured out a long time back that it was cheaper to let their customers do final testing than doing it themselves. No use even getting mad about it, as it is 30 years too late for that.

My experience with Amazon is that they will give you a credit to reimburse your cost of return shipping. They are about the most no hassle on returns of any place I buy from.
yeah Amazon has great customer service for sure. I'm sending back today!

Same thing happened to me. AIMS recently changed their inverters unfortunately!

Did I miss something? I recently built one of these with an AIMS 180, and it's giving me 10 second recycle times on an AB400... not especially useful.
