Thanks Phil, can't wait for mine to arrive here next week.
Your examples look really clean and sharp.
How does it work on your 5D II, anything special about
the camera recognizing the lens in a different way or it's
just working like any other Canon lens?
Today, despite the lack of autofocus, I must have shot 150 pics without focusing, because with good light, DOF is huge. It was just a point-and-shoot camera...:-) Otherwise, the camera recognizes the lens for Av, Tv, P, EXIF, just like a Canon, but not for the "intelligent" functions, such as vignetting correction. If you look at the EXIF of the shots I posted, you see the focal length, but not the "name" of the lens, as you would with a Canon. I am sure you will enjoy yours, it really has me enchanted and spellbound well beyond what my efforts show.

Alas, today was a day of overcast skies and drizzle, so I have very few shots to show. Here is one that I hope can give you some useful feed-back as to the Distagon's drawing for architecture. Again, the lens can do a lot better, and so can I. We just need a bit of time and better weather.
Yeah, the distortion on the 21 is pretty bad near the edges of the frame. I have some shots where the effect is noticeably less than in philber's sample though. I wonder if it varies a bit based on the focus distance.
Yes, both of you are correct. Showing the distortion is the reason for my showing this shot, which is useless otherwise. And yes again, I picked the one where it looks the worst. The fact that I love this lens doesn't mean that I should not give honest feedback on its weaknesses.
Yes, and thank you. I appreciate that since I am also considering the lens. The original in Contax mount had two issues: distortion and flare. I can see from your samples the distortion is similar. How is the flare control? I'd also like to see some extreme corner samples (not the edge of the frame) from the lens, preferably at the wider apertures
