p.1 #1 · Any use for the ultra-wide Sigma 12-24 for weddings?
Although I rarely find the sigma 10-20 on crop sensor to be too narrow, I am wondering if the 12-24 for full frame would be useful for particularly odd shots. Any thoughts?
p.1 #2 · Any use for the ultra-wide Sigma 12-24 for weddings?
A lot of times, we have to shoot in extremely crowded and close quarters situations. The Nikon 14-24 has been a blessing. At first, I was thinking it'll be a niche lens for a few shots. then I shot some crowded receptions with it. WOW.
It's one of those things that you don't know you need until you use it.
Also, 12mm on FF is much more dramatic than 10mm on crop. One starts to appreciate the look after a while - acquired taste.

Just used the 20 2.8 Nikon on FF at my last wedding. I LOVE shooting wide. It's far more challenging in terms of getting good compositions, but it's so much easier to tell a story with one frame.
p.1 #8 · Any use for the ultra-wide Sigma 12-24 for weddings?
I have the Sigma 15-30 that I keep in my bag...doesn't come out very often, but I do always use it for a few shots every wedding. On FF even 15mm is crazy wide, and yes, the distortion can be pretty bad at the edges if you're not careful. It's like anything else I guess...it has it's place.

I use a 20 prime but will eventually switch to the 16-35. The canon 20mm 2.8 is amazingly sharp even on my 1ds2 where the 400$ optics would most likely be tested. hopefully the 16-35 will live up to expectations.

the 12-24 was an awesome lens, but only a few times during a wedding. Wide
room shots during the ceremony and reception. Bride and groom shot if you
have some awesome sweeping landscape around. Outsides of venues etc...

I've been thinking about a fisheye as well, but there are some situations where I would want ultrawide without the fisheye effect. I enjoyed playing with the fisheye when I borrowed one, but it's not a replacement for ultrawide.

Well, until I had the 14-24 for the Nikon kit, I used the 12-24 Siggy on a Canon 5D and loved it.
I now also use a 10-17 FE on a crop body. Love if for some stuff.

There are some excellent shots with the uwa. I have been thinking about getting rid of my Nikon 12-24 f/4, but my next wedding has EIGHT brides maids, TWO junior brides maides, and THREE flower girls. Not sure how many on the grooms side.
