Oh, most certainly - people complaining about repetitive posing, etc. no worries there - but 'does this stuff sell?' - people who just pop in to take their shot in the thread. It's not my style at all, but it really is pretty sad the way some of the same people show up in the threads to say the same things.

Many of these comments are singing the same tune. They cant all be missing the boat. <snip> My comments were my honest feelings about the look of this set. Sorry if that doesnt mesh with your opinion, but isnt that kind of the whole point?
opinions are opinions. they can't really be wrong unless they contradict facts... and there are virtually no facts in art/photography/visual stimulus appreciation. if you don't like it, then you're right. if you do, you're right.
it's when people start making absolutist statements that the cross from having a valid opinion, to being wrong (and just being a tool). they CAN all be missing the boat, so to speak.
like jeremy said, it's really the few people who just open posts to drop some insults/inane questions/generally asinine comments that bring it all down. they know who they are, i know who they are, but i'd probably get banned for calling them out. it's funny and more than a little sad and pathetic to see these people who are older than sergio by decades jump on the internet and amuse themselves at someone else's expense. makes you wonder...
Good point Ryan. I guess I dont hang out here often enough to have caught those "folks to whom you refer". But yeah, that would be crappy to do. OTOH....I do see on this forum as well as others....a good deal of "rock star" type posts...where the poster is fairly well known, and everyone just kisses their arse cause of who people think they are...rather than what is actual said or posted....Obviously..as you can see, I pretty much call it like i see it regardless of who the poster happens to be, or what the "popular" opinion happens to be. Probably rubs a few folks the wrong way....but that kind of goes along with calling it like you see it anyways... and i'm cool with that.

Oh snap. I think we just had a friendly exchange of differing viewpoints on one of Serg's threads. What is this world coming to?! Where else am I gonna get my nightly entertainment?!?!

One bit of critique. This is an attractive young lady who looks like she has a nice figure. Shooting a person straight on makes her mid section/hips look larger than they actually are. I slight skewing of her body would take inches off her body.
+1
I didn't like her facing straight on each time. I was thinking it made her look like she had a big belly at times.
Here's my thoughts...take it with some salt if you wish
This is a unique and trendy look (not in a bad way). However...excessive use does make it look drab and gimmicky. I also feel like this was a very attractive girl that had alot to offer but wasn't given full potential. The shots are 'cool', but how far can you really take that? This obviously will depend on your target market and area, but from my experiences and from what I've seen, this type of style is slightly high-risk. Not when done in moderation, but when done throughout a shoot.
In all honesty, if these were taken with a standard 50mm at 2.8, they'd be pretty boring (and I really don't see a mother or senior being that into them - and I've dealt with their preferences across the board). It's almost as if they're fancified snapshots.
I'm obviously not saying they're bad photographs - far from it - I'm just saying that the styles therein can be overdone, and may have been.
Ryan and Jeremy...why do feel the need to defend him on his posts? I'm sure Sergio is very smart and able to defend himself. A lot of his photo sets end with this back and forth banter between members. History shows that he is unwilling to accept any type of critiques...so why does he continue to post? Especially if he and YOU know the same BS will arise.
If you look at the sets from Sergio, the images basically look the same. Just different subjects.
If you guys are really BOYZ....then why don't you be honest with him and help with areas he is lacking.
I've stated before in his wedding posts......he is a far better wedding photog, than a portrait artist. If he would get out of his comfort zone and actually attempt to learn how to pose...he would be stellar.
I for one have not heard about your photos because I don't visit the wedding forum that much. So looking at these from a Senior session point of view (that they are) I would say the set you posted does not show much variety, maybe in the backgrounds but not the girl. There well exposed and I like the colors. My favorite is number 2, Ron
1st Picture - I was "snap she's pretty, great photo". 2nd - "another great shot, amazing eyes ... kind of looks like he 1st". 3rd - "solid picture, and those eyes ... but I wish there was some variety in pose, composition, lense etc..." and so on.
It's been said before: as individual shots they amazing but as a set the lustre dulls a bit due to repetition. Having said that I would be ecstatic to call anyone of these my own.
