Yes - if you are a long lens shooter for sports or wildlife moving at distance the 7D will indeed be better. But the 5D2 is great too. Get both ;-)
I am primarily a long lens sports shooter and I'm trading my 1DMkII for a 7D.
I will just add that the long L lenses are considered a bit better (and possibly cheaper). At the same time nikon traditionally made better wide optics, so a good pick for birding imho. sz

it looks over processed so no would be the answer.
Your post processing program of choice can "unprocess" whatever processing you feel has been done. Moreover, if you feel there is a consistent problem you can always batch the process to transform many images at once.
Though, I think a better question is: Can you quantify the over processing you describe?
Either Canon or Nikon can render the same look it really comes down to who is processing the photos. One picture is take with the D3x and the other with a 1ds mk III it would be hard pressed to tell which is which with out looking at the exif.
no, not really interested in debating this or proving my point with a project i don't have time for, it is however my observation over many years and shooting both nikon and canon digital and i'm really good with post work.

That's wonderful, but certainly you can understand that this is a forum, which is supposed to facilitate discourse. Simple, broad statements don't fly well if there's not quantification or description to show your point.

gosh, thanks for the insight on how FM works...will be sure and write that down and comply with every meaningless timewasting request from here on.

Are you suggesting that we should just take everything you say at face value without proof?

No, fair enough...in this case, I'm stating my opinion and not a white paper...but please feel free. Basically, this is a non-issue to me but I think the colors are different. Primary colors jump more with Canon right out of the box...open them neutral in the same converter and this is obviously true to anybody with eyeballs that work. That said, I not sure that is a good thing. Is velvia better than kodachrome? It is a style thing and personal.
A comparison w/ a D700 would have been a tad more fair and different results. Agree w/ what Bean & others have said; great shot Mr Braniac and Peter you are correct!

I'm also a long lens shooter (birds), but I'm holding on to my 1D2. I'm comfortable that the 7D will be a great camera, but the expectations are just too high right now. Even if it does out-focus the 1D2 I'll still want two fast bodies for flexibility and backup.
