The IQ is on par with the 5DmkII. Colors are terrific. All the new gadgetry is awesome! I think whoever gets the new 1D will be ecstatic if this is a preview of whats to come. Simply amazing and a joy to use.

LR 2.5 and CS4 will process the 7D RAW images. The latest update (ACR 5.5) has preliminary support and worked with pre-production images. Perhaps it will not work witht he production images.
Hmmm.... I'm not sure what version I have. But it doesn't work. I'll check and see if I can update it. Thanks John!

man, i wish that camera was cheaper. i have a rebel xti, and looking to upgrade to something in the $1000 range. any deals on this camera?
By chance, do you have any large files with significant contrast that can be downloaded for study? JPG is fine since I can't yet open a 7D RAW file. I'm trying to get an idea as to how much adjustment the 7D files can take.
Hmm... I can send you something later today. But I cannot promise a good image as I've only good DPP to process as of now and I can't seem to control the noise when I use it to sharpen a RAW file. PM me your email address Tom.

Good for you, Conrad, the first one to report on 7D. However, I've noticed that you might have picked up some bad habits from your "buddies" on the N&W Board:
(1) Shooting RAW
(2) Using a lens way too long (i.e., 400mm).....100-200mm FL would do much better on those pelicans.
(3) Aperture set to f/9 and f/10 ?
The Cormorant and Stork captures are pretty good.
Thanks Peter! Haha! I know huh? My N&W buddies have corrupted me I didn't know the pelicans were going to be flying so close! Way too close for the 400mm haha! I enjoy the flexibility of RAW, but hate processing photos in general. Its so time consuming. Aperature f/9 and f/10 were what it came out to at Tv shutter speed of 1/1250 to 1/2000 hehe... I'll try to get some pijuns for you soon my friend!

Conrad, damn, I wish I had that sort of light available to me more than once or twice a year, so I can do f/8 at ISO 100.
Why bother with pijuns, try to get some terns instead, you should have more of them over yonder.
