I bought a Zeiss 500mm lens with manual focus, which I like very much. To maximize accuracy of manual focus, I bought, as suggested, I replaced the default focusing screen with Canon's Precision focusing screen ( I think it's called the S screen). WIll leaving the precision screen in place after the auto focus ability of the camera or the exposure readings? I called Canon to ask this question and received a rather cursory response, is if they were upset that I even thought of buying another brand lens other than theirs. Please email cc of your response to [email protected] THank you. Bob Specto
I'm not surprised at Canon's response. You are using a non brand lens
If I remember correctly the precision screen is only meant for lenses with a maximum aperture of 2.8 or wider. It may look even darker than the original with that lens.
You should set the appropriate custom function for the screen in use to correct exposure.
