I think I will get the cheapest M-mount film body I can and start some lens collecting until I can afford the M9... That brings us back to the other thread with the poor man's M9...
But I already managed to get a CV 90/3.5 for little money. That wa some unexpected GAS eruption on my part

Brainiac, I agree that for some reason this thread is saturated - not with faithful Leicaphilic tantrums with a blind eye to the shortcomings of the M9 - but with unusually sober expectations and reflections on the camera.
The M8 was never attractive to me, I was disappointed by all the shortcomings and I was hoping they would get it right eventually. Now, with the M9 I feel that Leica might actually have contributed with a milestone camera; the first full frame digital rangefinder and one that might actually deliver the goods with (hopefully) a minimum of quirks.

If you see a 35 lux asph or 90 apo-cron of the chrome variety let a brother know will ya? Found a cheap (ish) 35 at aperture camera but when I called they said it had been sold
I'm thinking of changing from 90AA to regular old summicron, it's proving very difficult to find a silver copy of that lens that doesn't break the bank! The one on photo.net for 1500 (which has been sold) just teases me every time I google!
I have a chrome one around 1500 lined up though... we'll see if I can find someone in the states to forward it to me as the store won't declare <800 to avoid import tax

I got a 35 lux asph in chrome at a price I was comfortable with. I'm hoping to get the M9 soon, but I also can't wait to churn through some film with these babies on my M6!
Ahhh I see. Chrome. Yeah all my lenses are black except for my old as crap Nikkor 50/1.4. Have you thought about the 75 APO to pair with the 35? Supposed to be one of the better Leica lenses.
As much as I'd like to have an M9, every time I get a good frame on Tri-X, I know that I'll always return to it.
I'm starting to think that I might go for a CV 35 1.2 and Leica 90 2.0 pre-asph first. 35 1.2 for context/lowlight/group/some arcitecture, 90 2.0 for portraits, longer natureshots etc. And then fill in with 21 and 50 later... the choices.. the choices... Or maybe just get a 50/1.1 and 21/4 first, then 35 and 90 later. Hard choices indeed.
Ulrik, I already have the cv 1.1 nokton as you know. Amazing lens. You should copy my exact kit (albeit with the 35/1.2) 21/4.5 c-biogon, 35/1.2, 50/1.1 & 90apo...
EDIT: oh I see you were keen on the 90 pre-asph, also a great lens, very different to the 90apo, but better close up performance IMO, and the bokeh has less tendency to be edgy if focused up close.

Has (much) more purple fringing but f/2.8 & f/4.0 is very similar and indistinguishable from there onward (sharpness and bokeh), the rendering differences are still apparent though.
kidtexas, I agree with many that 75 is very close to 50, and also have been very pleased with the 90 apo on SLR. If I didn't have the 50/1.1 I probably would just go for the 75 apo and use 21/35/75 only.
Looks really nice! I have calculated that i end up with about $7500 if I sell my entire nikon kit, I also netted about $1500 on a photogig last weekend and will have a few of those until christmas. The question is... should I just forget used, sell my stash of nikon stuff, order 2-3 lenses and a new M9 from Uk.. Hard choices :P
If it's financially within your grasp, don't sell to buy. There's always a small chance that you could be very unsatisfied with the M9, or feel seller's remorse!
I have to sell my Canon gear because I'm putting myself in too much of a precocious financial situation building my M kit. Incidentally (I know I've mentioned this before) but if anyone wants a mirror shaved 5D Mark II, I'm keen to get rid of it cheap since I'll have to pay $600 for a new mirror installation!
I guess I could save up for a few months more, sell lenses I don't use much. If I keep the d700, 24, 50, 85 and 70-200. Sell everything else, I should sit back with enough to have to parallell kit until I decide what i love the most
Haha, I always thought that I would someday like macro, got a set of extension rings.. have i ever used them? no.. so yeah, I have a pretty good idea myself Just have to be patient.. THAT is the hard part
I am at torn on what to do at this point. Shall I just abandon the RF system completely and sell all my M lenses (from 21mm to 90mm) or shall I go ahead buy an M9? Looking at the posts here, it looks like my M lenses will be in demand.
