p.2 #2 · If the new 1dm4 is in stock, what would you do?
My understanding is that the "Mark IV" is literally a creation of the web site "canon rumors" ...?
Like most of us I'll wait until Canon announces an actual product & it's reviewed by a bunch of bozos with photography websites & contested reputations & at least 15 "Mark IV - your experience/views" threads here on FM (b/c- of course actually trying the thing is no prerequisite to an opinion) & then I'll think about it.
By then I might have figured out how to master all my 1D3 is capable of.

Wow, that brings to mind a little Canon dSLR Theatre play:
Act 1, 1DMkIII.
"Boys, what's all that media noise about MkIII not AF-ing right ?"
"Boss san, that's them stupid photographers not knowing how to use our sophisticated camera."
"I see. Well, why not issue some white papers on the camera's settings and custom functions. Let's make several different versions of it......one for each major sales region. That will keep them busy for a while. Also, get some new firmware in......like Yiddish menu or imperial units.....that always helps too. "
" Will do, Boss san."
Act 2, 1DMkIV
"Boys, what's the marketing slogan for our new MkIV camera ?"
"Boss san, we decided on >> Even stupids can do BIF with Mk IV<<"
"Boys, have I ever told you how hard it is to get good help around here ?"

I don't think my 1DmkIII is somehow "old" and need replacement. More mpx will not change anything to my images since I don't print much, more speed is impossible, video I don't need, AF is perfect as it is now, what else? I prefer more good L glass in my bag ...

1D MK III has a terrible reputation for unreliable AF that has cost Canon millions in lost sales and conversion to Nikon. It also has the lowest MP count of any major DSLR. A new version is almost mandatory at this point.

Do you care about reputation or great IQ? I really care less about forums reputation and prefer to listen my own opinion. People who are seating on forums all day long in most cases shooting dollars or doves or brick walls Photography is outside of this world ... 1DmkIII/1DsmkIII are amazing camera bodies and nothing wrong with both at this point.

How that "damage" effecting your shots? I am personally amazed with most shots I do with 1DmkIII. Even after getting "NEW" 5DmkII I am still shooting more with 1DmkIII.

1. I think it is amazing that someone would ask what we would do regarding a still mythical camera.
2. I think it is amazing that someone still aruges there was nothing wrong with the 1DMIII AF.
3. I think it is amazing that Canon has not done more to offset the bad reputation of the 1DMIII. Regardless of whether it has a real problem, the perception of a problem exists and Canon needs to work hard to overcome that.

It's not. I would not have added a second 1Ds MK III if I did not think it was any good. 1D MK III is due for replacement regardless. 1Ds MK III replacement will probably be at PK next year.

1. I think that is amazing that someone trying to tell me that my camera (1DmkIII) is bad since RG reviews and I should not trust to my eyes because of this.
2. I personally care-less about problems happened first year of 1DmkIII production. That is why I will never buy cameras first min they are in store and strongly suggesting everyone to do same and not only with cameras, cars same for example. Vine is better with age!!!
3. Reputation is nothing personally to me, both systems Canon & Nikon are very good and nothing could change this as easy as some RG made (or maybe paid?) AF problems

No reasonable person would tell you tht your camera is bad. What people do say is that the body does have issues in general. If you are lucky enough to have a good one, great.

my 30D is throwing Err99s all over the place and I start as the photo editor at the campus newspaper soon so I'm hoping the 1D replacement comes out soon, either to drive down 1DIII prices or for me to purchase and use.

1D MK III is due for replacement, very well said, best thing for canon is to start fresh to get over the "reputation" of the mk III!
EBH, noted more than 10,000 entries! Wow, congratulations,
