I'd enjoy seeing more of your images taken with the 60 as a walk around prime.
I believe that the lens has broader performance capabilities than many are giving it credit for.
Here are a few recent candids.....low light, ISO 800.

Peteyyyy you really make me one to get this lens now
Kewl, the simple fact is that for about $1,000 and some change one can buy 40D + EF-S 60 f/2.8..... a combo which could satisfy very demanding performance expectations.......macro as well as walk around.
Very nice lens, the only problem I have with it is the little sod stops me buying an 85 1.8 as I just dont think I need 2 lenses so close in length.
Now if canon could do the same job with a shorter efs fast prime.........

I used to own both and I did like the 85's bokeh better for portraits. The 60 macro is a killer little lens though.

Excellent, that lens will seldom let you down.
good to hear!
i have:
-sigma 15-30
-canon 70-200 f4
so i really needed something to cover the middle grounds.
i was contemplating going back to the tamron 28-75...but the reviews on the canon 60 are just too much to pass up (especially for the relatively great price/performance on the 60).
i just hope i wont miss/need the 30-60 range too much.
ill just have to use my feet more

That's a spirit !
To unlock the full lens potential you gotta experiment with it, unhindered by opinions of some internet "experts".
I get these kinda shots routinely now even though I am a bit handicapped by the AF point pattern of 40D.....not truly used to it so my response time is a bit reduced compared to 1D cameras. Yet, not bad for a 60mm slow focusing macro lens on a prosumer camera, eh.
There are times when one chances upon a special sort of light......fast lenses like f/2.8 and larger are always better at taking advantage of diminishing golden hour light. The 60 f/2.8 does wonderfully in that regard.
For this kinda flying birds as well as a major change in background light, the camera is in the "M" mode. The shutter speed of 1/1250 sec is enough to get the bird's body sharp yet allow for some nice wing blur.
With lens aperture I'll go towards the wide end, however, I'll change it as well as ISO in order to maintain accurate exposure. Late evening sunlight does bring in some exposure extremes (shadows etc) so one must check their camera settings and anticipate constantly.
That's about it.
The 60 f/2.8 is more than plenty sharp wide open, so no limitations that way.
I also love my little 60mm lens, i've been having quite a bit of fun entering the macro world with it. What a joke my 24-105 & tubes seems now...
I've taken a few walk around pictures with the 60mm and they've been great. Because I prefer my 24-105 for walk around, the 60mm doesn't see much use, but I definitely think i should give it some more camera time in that regard.
