This Mantis is usually only 'seen' camouflaged against the bark of trees in the shadows of the bush, in my experience. I followed this fellow around the wall of a building for a while to see what would happen. He didn't like being corralled but it worked to slow him down for a while and keep him from running away.

Then this Aphid appeared at a run over the edge of the wall and the Mantis took off after it and snatched it up in a vice like grip, crushing it instantly at either end.

Incredible set, love the story sequence and the detail photos. You really have your Panasonic dialed in and working for you, very well done.

Thanks guys, Anden, Kenny, Zichar. I appreciate your dropping by and commenting.
Thanks Dave. The Panny is still a good cam with its Leica glass and ring focus and zoom though I am on the lookout for something new.

Thanks Brian, Michael and Phil.
These camouflage critters are difficult to focus on anyway. One of the qualities of camouflage I suppose.

Nice mantis shots. One of my favorite subjects, though not this unusual species. So interesting how they strike quickly and dismember food so quickly. Nice captures.

Great shot's.
You should place #3 at the end of the feeding series ... it looks like he's giving "two thumbs up" after a good meal!
