Surely, although it's not cheap, the C/Y 21 2.8 must be a contender?
The 21 is the best lens I`ve ever owned
My 100 3.5 is a superb lens that is often overlooked because it`s not fast
My 25 2.8 is stellar when stopped down a couple
35 2.8 is a good general purpose lens that delivers the goods
28 2.8 and 50 1.7 are not very impressive
85 1.4 doesn`t get used, nothing special
135 2.8 nothing special
Wish list
100 f2 but apart from cost I can`t see it being any better than my 100 3.5 unless I want shallow DOF which is not that often.
Forgot to mention 35-70C/Y 3.4 a good lens(can be great) but I prefer primes now.
The only one i currently have and seems to be somewhat overlooked, but has been described by some as arguably the best zoom ever made is the :
C / Y Zeiss Vario Sonnar 28-85 f3.3-4
Yeah it has a little bit of pincushion distortion and some CA but these are easily dealt with in PP.But it can hold its own with other Zeiss primes in its focal range.
Here are a few samples that i have taken in the short time i have had it.
The 28-85 I was looking at getting but it felt kind of awkward in the 28mm setting.
The N24-85 lens looks like a solid performer. There was one up for grabs here in Sweden but I think it has been sold already. I would have liked to try it out on the 5D, for sure.
