Thanks for the info about the footwear. Several years ago while on vacation in Vacouver, BC I walked into the river at Lynn Canyon. Within a minute I felt that needle-like sensation/pain. It was very uncomfortable. Being from Florida I think that I will have to plan well to avoid this again.

Wow, the first shot had me looking at it for a good ten seconds which is very long these days. I also appreciate you sharing the technical information for your shots.
My brother and I want to have a photo shooting vacation and Oregon is the place to go. After he sees your photos he will agree.
My question is not really a photographic question but looking at the conditions I have to ask. What kind of shoes do you wear when walking in the water? Do you have two pairs of shoes, a pair of water shoes and a pair hiking shoes? Or do you have just one pair of shoes? If it is just one pair, how do you get them dry for the next day?...Show more →
If you go in the early spring, the flow is very high. You won't be able to get a lot of shots with boots alone, if you're trying to avoid getting wet. Folks I've been out with have brought along shoes or sandals to change into, and just deal with it. I'm a wimp, so I either stay out of the water or bring waders. If you get a decent pair of waders (with boots) you can stay in there for an hour or so completely dry and warm.
However, in #9, there's definitely some motion blur in those trees. You've got some 'splaining to do!

Very beautiful, each has special quality of its own. Would love to see something like this on my wall.
We can work that out.

I don't know about Mark, but i know that alot of people use fishing shoes, ie; knee high rubber (similar) boots. Me, i just hike in flip flops. Yes, i hiked in the Oneonta Gorge in May with flip flops. My feet didn't gain feeling for a day or two
The waders that go over the feet work really good for that.

Fantastic images, Mark! The first one blew me away like no picture for some time. The last one shocked me ... you still alive?
Yes. That was a little humor and there was no one on the road.
